About the Role – Superintendent Geology Jobs in Kalumbila As a key member of the Mine Technical Services Team and Geology Department, the Superintendent Geology will report directly to the Geology Manager. The successful candidate will leverage their geoscientific expertise and leadership capabilities to oversee geological operations that add value to mining and processing activities at FQM Trident.

This role requires managing the geology team to ensure efficient execution of work programs while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams across the mine’s value chain. Key Responsibilities Design and implement integrated, multi-disciplinary data collection programs in partnership with Mine Planning, Drill & Blast, Load & Haul, Mineral Processing, Geotechnical, and Hydro-geological teams.

Maintain strict quality control standards during stockpiling, blending strategies, and ore processing. Lead geological personnel management, including career development, training, mentoring, and performance evaluations.

Coordinate logistics to ensure timely and efficient execution of geological work programs. Plan and supervise all in-pit ore control activities, such as drilling, sampling, blast leveling, dig-plan markouts, production tallying, mine design compliance, and floor cleaning.

Oversee both First Quantum and Business Partner/Contractor teams during ore control drilling and sampling to guarantee data quality. Manage geological reporting, governance, and ensure compliance with industry standards including JORC, SAMREC, and NI 43-101.

Support departmental budgeting, resource allocation, and continuous improvement initiatives. Drive technical excellence by implementing best-practice geological systems and procedures.

Candidate Profile and Required Experience A minimum of 8 years of relevant operational experience, including at least 3 years in a senior management role within geology or Mine Technical Services. Proven expertise in copper and nickel base metal geology, with a preference for candidates familiar with structurally controlled sediment-hosted deposits or Central African Copper Belt geology.

At least 5 years of open-pit production experience combined with a solid understanding of mine engineering practices. Demonstrated project management experience of no less than 3 years.

Qualifications and Professional Memberships Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geoscience, Applied Geology, or Earth Sciences is required. Postgraduate qualifications in Geology, Economic Geology, Mineral Resource Management, Geostatistics, or Mining Geology are advantageous.

Membership in a recognized international professional geological organization. Membership to the Engineer’s Institute of Zambia is required.
