About the Role:

  • Plant Controller Jobs in Solwezi As a Plant Controller for the Wet Plant, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety, stability, and optimal operation of the processing plant during your shift.

You will monitor and control process performance, coordinate activities across various plant areas, respond to process disturbances, and provide real-time production optimization while maintaining strict compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities Operate in full compliance with Zambian laws and company policies related to safety, health, environment, quality, finance, and human resources. Maintain high HSE standards and ensure strict adherence within the Process Plant.

Uphold exceptional control room housekeeping standards. Lead shift operations, overseeing Supervisors and Control Room Operators to maximize copper and gold production.

Monitor and control all plant parameters to exceed KPIs for throughput, recovery, and product quality. Coordinate plant feed rate and ore quality with mining operations to optimize plant performance.

Ensure equipment operates within defined strategies and procedures. Maximize use of expert control systems and critical instrumentation for real-time optimization.

Maintain high standards in plant control including alarm management, trend analysis, and downtime reporting. Execute daily operating instructions and escalate issues as necessary.

Assist with major plant shutdowns, maintenance prioritization, and start-ups. Coach and develop shift personnel to achieve operational excellence.

Collaborate closely with maintenance, processing, and technical teams to optimize plant output. Diagnose and resolve plant defects promptly.

Ensure accurate accounting of production loss events. Maintain constant availability during shifts and provide detailed performance reports.

Participate actively in relevant meetings and conduct thorough shift handovers. Control operational costs and promote efficient use of water, reagents, energy, and utilities.

Perform other related duties as required. Qualifications and Experience Diploma or Degree in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, Chemical Engineering, or Process Engineering.

Proficient in data analysis and Excel. Training in Process Control or Distributed Control Systems (DCS) is an advantage.

Between 5 and 10 years of concentrator plant experience. Minimum of 2 years experience in control room operations.

Familiarity with mine-to-mill processes, crushing, SAG/Ball milling, flotation, thickening, tailings handling, and process water systems. Ability to interpret SCADA trends, alarms, and interlocks.

Competent in troubleshooting using tools such as Excel and PI Vision. Experience working in a multicultural environment.

Demonstrated ability to apply process control concepts and coordinate shift operations across multiple areas. Behavioural and Operational Requirements Strong safety-first mindset with calm, structured decision-making under pressure.

System-wide thinking and proactive communication. Ownership and accountability for operational outcomes.

Computer literate with readiness for standby duties. Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and handle corrosive or toxic substances.
