About the Role The Driller will be responsible for operating the Drill Tech drill rig, specifically the Sandvik D25K and Epiroc Smart Rock T45 models, to drill blast holes essential for mining activities. This role demands technical expertise, meticulous attention to detail, and adherence to strict safety protocols to ensure operational excellence and safety compliance.

Key Responsibilities for Driller Jobs in Solwezi Operate the Sandvik D25K drill rig to drill blast holes according to the drilling plan’s patterns and depths. Perform pre-start inspections and routine maintenance to ensure the drill rig is in optimal condition before each shift.

Maintain drilling accuracy by ensuring blast holes meet specified depth, diameter, and spacing requirements. Apply comprehensive knowledge of drilling techniques such as collaring, production drilling, and pre-splitting while adapting to varying ground conditions.

Strictly follow safety procedures and wear protective equipment at all times; promptly report any mechanical issues or safety concerns. Maintain a clean and safe work environment, managing debris and ensuring proper signage is displayed in high-traffic areas.

Collaborate effectively with blasters, fellow drillers, and other team members to maintain efficient and safe operations. Monitor drill rig performance and consumables to prevent breakdowns and minimize downtime.

Keep accurate records of drilling activities, equipment performance, and any incidents or delays. Qualifications and Experience Full Grade 12 certificate certified by ZAQA.

Technical training or certification in drilling is advantageous. Minimum of three years’ experience operating the Sandvik D25K or similar equipment in an open-pit mining setting.

Experience with Epiroc Smart Rock T45 and Epiroc Pit Viper drilling equipment is a strong advantage. Familiarity with HP drilling systems is preferred.
