Role Overview:
- Metallurgist Flotation Optimization Jobs in Solwezi The primary purpose of this role is to optimize flotation circuits to meet target recovery and concentrate grade.
- You will continuously monitor daily plant performance, identify performance gaps, and develop both short- and medium-term solutions to close these gaps.
- Your expertise will ensure operational excellence and contribute to the overall success of our mining operations.
- Key Responsibilities Provide technical support to operations teams to maintain optimal plant performance.
- Conduct hot float tests to guide operational strategies tailored to specific ore bodies.
- Analyze daily operational data and optimize flotation strategies accordingly.
- Develop an in-depth understanding of the flotation metallurgical process at Kansanshi Mine (KMP).
- Troubleshoot issues such as poor recovery, concentrate grade inconsistencies, and equipment underperformance through audits, data analysis, and laboratory flotation test work.
- Perform plant surveys and interpret results to guide operational improvements.
- Create and update dashboards to provide clear operational guidelines.
- Conduct technical audits to detect deviations from design and operational parameters, proposing and implementing corrective actions for unit operations such as Jameson cells and flotation columns.
- Inspect key flotation equipment and contribute to predictive maintenance planning.
- Develop mass balance calculations and assist in evaluating test and plant data.
- Communicate effectively with other departments to ensure timely information flow for efficient plant performance.
- Adhere to statutory and safety regulations to minimize personnel injury and asset damage, while maintaining quality assurance documentation.
- Perform additional duties as required to support plant optimization.
- Qualifications and Experience Degree or diploma in metallurgy or a related discipline, with eligibility for membership in the Engineering Institute of Zambia under Act No.
- 27 of 1992.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- A minimum of two years’ relevant experience in a plant environment is preferred.
- Strong analytical, data interpretation, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with laboratory flotation test work and operational environments is advantageous.
