About the Role:
Laboratory Technician Jobs in Kalumbila Reporting directly to the Medical Doctor - LEP, the Laboratory Technician will perform essential pathological laboratory procedures to support clinical and occupational health services.
Key responsibilities include specimen collection, processing, analysis, and the proper operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment. The role also involves managing laboratory supplies, maintaining accurate records, and adhering to quality control programs such as external quality assessment (EQA) and internal quality control (IQC).
You will be accountable for completing assigned tasks within the management Operating System (MOS) framework, ensuring compliance with safety policies, and promoting a zero-harm culture. The position requires developing and maintaining safe work procedures, facilitating continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring legal and environmental compliance through competent team management.
Responsibilities Conduct pathological laboratory tests as required by clinic and occupational health staff. Collect, process, and analyze specimens accurately and efficiently.
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance. Participate in EQA programs and implement IQC measures to maintain laboratory standards.
Manage inventory of laboratory supplies and consumables. Prepare and standardize laboratory reagents following established protocols.
Develop and enforce safe work procedures and promote health and safety awareness. Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety policies and environmental regulations.
Drive continuous improvement targets and maintain up-to-date job procedures. Qualifications and Experience Grade 12 certificate.
Diploma in Biomedical Science. Minimum of three years’ relevant working experience.
Paid-up membership with the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ). Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
Understanding of legislation related to employment and safety in the Zambian mining industry. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
