EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, AGRICULTURE AND AGRI-FOOD SYSTEMS POLICYAN ALYSIS

Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must hold at least a Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics,Agribusiness, Food Systems, Agricultural Policy, Development Economics, oraclosely related field.
A PhD in a relevant area is an added advantage.
At least five years of relevant professional experience is required, includingleadership in agricultural policy research or analysis.
The role also requiresdemonstrated experience in policy research, programme leadership, andstakeholder engagement.
A strong record of peer reviewed publications, policy papers, and technical reportsis required.
Applicants must show a proven ability to secure research fundingfromdonors, government agencies, or development partners.
Experience working with government ministries, international organisations, orresearch institutions is an added advantage.
Applicants must also possess strongleadership, communication and strategic planning skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Executive Director will lead interdisciplinary research, policy development,and advisory initiatives focused on agriculture and agrifood systems. Therolerequires strategic leadership in policy research, stakeholder engagement, andevidence based advisory services.
• Provide strategic leadership in agricultural and agrifood systems policy researchand analysis.
• Lead the development of policy briefs, research reports, and technical papersaddressing agricultural productivity, value chains, food security, trade andrural development.
• Establish and manage multidisciplinary research teams in areas such as agricultural economics, agribusiness, climate smart agriculture and food systemstransformation.
• Teach and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students in the relevant area of expertise.
• Mobilise research funding through grants, partnerships and commissionedstudies.
• Strengthen the university’s role as a national and regional think tank for agriculture and agrifood systems policy.
• Supervise staff within the Directorate and support capacity building of researchers and analysts.
• Facilitate the dissemination of research findings through conferences, publications and stakeholder engagements.
• Promote data-driven decision making and evidence-based policy development.
