Our client, a well-established law firm in Mossel Bay is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its General Litigation Department. The role requires a driven, target-focused attorney capable of managing a busy litigation portfolio independently
Minimum requirements:- Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa
- 2–5 years post-admission experience in General Litigation
- Strong Magistrates’ Court and/or High Court litigation experience
- Ability to work independently and manage own matters
- Strong drafting and litigation skills
- Strong organisational, communication, and time management skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Valid driver’s licence and own vehicle advantageous
- Afrikaans and English advantageous
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing a full general litigation caseload from inception to finalisation
- Attending court appearances, consultations, mediations, and pre-trials
- Drafting pleadings, affidavits, notices, and legal correspondence
- Liaising with clients, counsel, sheriffs, and correspondents
- Conducting legal research and providing legal opinions where required
- File management and ensuring matter progression within deadlines
Billing & Performance Requirements:
- Strong focus on achieving monthly billing targets
- Ability to manage a profitable caseload and ensure effective fee recovery
- Target-driven environment with performance measured against billing output
- Accurate and timeous recording of all billable work
