Brief Job Description

Truck Mechanic at Tailwind Logistics will be responsible for keeping commercial fleets running safely and efficiently by performing diagnostics, routine servicing, and heavy repairs which includes:

  • Diagnose and repair medium to heavy-duty trucks / trailers / tankers, including preventative maintenance, inspections, repair to air and hydraulic brakes, tyres, warranty procedures, driveline, steering and suspension, electrical, mobile AC and overhaul and engine rebuilds, with safety as the top priority
  • Conduct regular preventative maintenance on service lorries, including inspection, tyre rotation and oil changes.
  • Maintain accurate records of each repair performed on vehicles
  • Perform both Roadside breakdown support and workshop duties
  • Plan time-based services and notify the logistics team when trucks are due for maintenance or scheduled for repairs.

Requirements and qualification;

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • High school diploma, supplemented by a vocational or technical certification in diesel mechanics.
  • Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical wiring, and air brake systems.
  • 2 to 5 years of hands-on experience working on commercial, heavy-duty trucks or trailers.
  • Physical stamina to lift heavy Components; work in tight spaces, and a valid driver’s license.
  • 3 Traceable references
