Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare tender estimates using client-supplied Bills of Quantities, lump-sum cost schedules and project documentation.
  • Compile Bills of Quantities and cost schedules from drawings, specifications and project requirements.
  • Analyse completed cost estimates and identify potential commercial risks.
  • Review tender documentation and prepare tender risk management reports.
  • Review contract documentation and prepare contract risk management reports.
  • Monitor project costs throughout the construction period.
  • Track and cost all variations, site instructions, claims and contra-charges.
  • Perform risk management, value management and cost control.
  • Advise project teams on appropriate procurement strategies.
  • Identify contractual and commercial risks and develop appropriate responses.
  • Provide input and advice regarding contractual claims.
  • Measure and value work completed by subcontractors.
  • Prepare interim valuations and final accounts.
  • Determine and reconcile final contract values.
  • Assist with feasibility studies and the establishment of project requirements.
  • Prepare estimates for service and maintenance contracts.
  • Maintain knowledge of commonly used building and construction contracts.
  • Report commercial, contractual or site-related concerns to the Project Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety, quality and operational procedures.

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree or National Diploma in Quantity Surveying.
  • Minimum of three years’ Quantity Surveying experience within the construction industry.
  • Previous experience working on mechanical building services or HVAC projects.
  • Experience in tendering, estimating, cost control and final accounts.
  • Good understanding of Bills of Quantities, construction contracts, variations and contractual claims.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Strong numerical, analytical and commercial skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and document-control abilities.
  • Contactable professional references.
This is a 12-month fixed-term contract offering a salary of R27,000 per month.
