Key Responsibilities
Manage engineering projects from feasibility studies through design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
Develop detailed project scopes, schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams, contractors, suppliers, and consultants.
Monitor project progress and ensure milestones are achieved within agreed timelines.
Prepare and manage project budgets, cost forecasts, and expenditure reports.
Conduct technical evaluations and recommend suitable engineering solutions.
Ensure compliance with engineering standards, statutory regulations, quality requirements, and health and safety legislation.
Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
Manage procurement activities, including preparing technical specifications and evaluating supplier proposals.
Oversee equipment installation, commissioning, testing, and final acceptance.
Prepare project documentation, including progress reports, technical reports, and close-out documentation.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project delivery and operational efficiency.
Provide technical support to maintenance and production teams where required.
Minimum Requirements
BEng/BSc/BTech in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.
Minimum of 5 years' experience managing engineering or capital projects within a manufacturing, FMCG, mining, petrochemical, energy, or heavy industrial environment.
Proven experience delivering projects from initiation to successful completion.
Strong understanding of engineering design principles, project planning, budgeting, procurement, and contractor management.
Experience using project management software such as Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or equivalent.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
Registration as a Professional Engineer or Professional Engineering Technologist (advantageous).
Formal Project Management qualification or certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent).
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement methodologies.
Experience with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as SAP PM or similar.
