Production Manager / Draughtsman

Key Responsibilities

Draughting & Design

• Create detailed manufacturing and fabrication drawings using SolidWorks.
• Develop and modify sheet metal drawings and assemblies.
• Generate production-ready drawings, including dimensions, tolerances, and material specifications.
• Ensure all drawings comply with manufacturing requirements and company standards.
• Liaise with customers, sales teams, and production staff regarding design requirements and revisions.
• Maintain drawing records, revisions, and technical documentation.

Production Management

• Manage and coordinate daily production activities within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Plan and prioritize production schedules to meet customer deadlines.
• Monitor production output, quality standards, and operational efficiency.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing and production-related issues as they arise.
• Coordinate with procurement, stores, and workshop personnel to ensure material availability.
• Lead and supervise production staff to achieve productivity and quality targets.
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve workflow and reduce waste.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards.

Minimum Requirements

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Draughtsman within a manufacturing environment.
• Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks.
• Strong experience creating sheet metal drawings and manufacturing documentation.
• Previous experience managing production operations on a fast-changing production floor.
• Sound understanding of fabrication, manufacturing, and production processes.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
• Valid driver's licence advantageous.

ADVANTAGEOUS

• Mechanical Engineering qualification, Draughting qualification, or relevant technical certification.
• Experience within sheet metal fabrication, manufacturing, or engineering industries.
• Exposure to lean manufacturing principles and production planning systems.
