SOS CHILDREN’S VILLAGES IN THE GAMBIA

SOS Children’s Villages in The Gambia is a non-governmental social development organisation that has been active in the field of children’s rights and committed to children’s needs and concerns since 1982. Focussing its work on children without parental care and children in families in difficult circumstances, the organisation has a wide range of programmes, which include: Children’s Villages, Youth Facilities, Family & Community Strengthening Programmes, Kindergartens, Schools, a Mother and Child Clinic, Vocational Training Centres, a Youth Empowerment project, a Monetizing Waste Project and a Gender Equality project.

LECTURER POSITIONS – SOCIAL WORK PROGRAMMES

INTRODUCTION

SOS PTPC is a training institution under SOS Children’s Villages in The Gambia committed to quality professional training in Social Work and related disciplines. The institution delivers competency-based education aimed at strengthening child protection, community development, education, and social service delivery.

SOS PTPC is recruiting suitably qualified candidates for:

LECTURER: ENGLISH LANGUAGE FOR SOCIAL SCIENCES

POSITION SUMMARY (GENERAL)

The lecturers will be responsible for delivering academic and practical instruction in their respective modules within the Social Work Programme. The roles include preparing lesson plans, delivering lectures, assessing students, and ensuring learners acquire both theoretical knowledge and practical competencies relevant to social work practice.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Teach grammar, academic writing, comprehension, and communication skills 
  2. Deliver workplace communication, report writing, and dissertation writing 
  3. Support students’ academic and professional writing development 
  4. Design and assess student performance 

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor’s degree in English Language, Linguistics, Education, or related field 
  2. Master’s degree preferred 
  3. Teaching qualification is an added advantage 
  4. Experience in tertiary or adult education 
  5. NAQAA accreditation is an added advantage.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS (ALL POSITIONS)

  1. Strong communication and facilitation skills 
  2. Ability to work independently and collaboratively 
  3. Experience in adult or tertiary education 
  4. Strong classroom management skills 
  5. ICT and digital teaching skills are an advantage 
  6. Commitment to safeguarding and institutional values of SOS PTPC
