Job Purpose
The IT Operations and Infrastructure Specialist will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and supporting the organisation’s IT infrastructure and day-to-day technology operations. The role will ensure that IT systems, networks, servers, hardware, and business applications operate efficiently, securely, and reliably to support overall business operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the organisation’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, hardware, and software.
- Monitor the performance, availability, and security of IT systems and infrastructure.
- Provide technical support to employees and resolve hardware, software, network, and system-related issues.
- Manage and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless networks.
- Ensure regular system backups are completed and support data recovery processes where required.
- Maintain and monitor IT security measures to protect company systems and data.
- Manage user accounts, access permissions, and IT assets.
- Coordinate the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computers, laptops, printers, and other IT equipment.
- Support the implementation of new IT systems, infrastructure upgrades, and technology projects.
- Maintain accurate documentation of IT systems, equipment, configurations, and procedures.
- Liaise with external IT service providers and vendors where necessary.
- Identify opportunities to improve IT systems, processes, and operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with company IT policies, procedures, and security standards.
- Provide regular reports to management on IT operations, system performance, and infrastructure requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in IT operations, infrastructure, systems administration, or technical support.
- Experience in managing networks, servers, and IT infrastructure.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and IT security practices.
- Experience with Microsoft Windows environments, Microsoft 365, and cloud-based systems.
- Knowledge of networking technologies, including TCP/IP, routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Experience with system backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes.
- Relevant IT certifications will be an added advantage.
