Financial Accountant to join its finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys taking ownership of the day-to-day accounting function while ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining clean financial records, managing the creditors function, preparing reconciliations, and supporting month-end and year-end financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Control
- Process daily financial transactions accurately and timeously
- Prepare and post monthly journals
- Complete month-end processing by the 7th of each month
- Perform comprehensive balance sheet reconciliations
- Reconcile bank accounts and resolve outstanding items promptly
- Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts
- Manage the fixed asset register and depreciation
- Review inventory and shipment costing
- Reconcile advertising expenditure and related claims
Creditors & Payments
- Process supplier invoices and reconcile supplier accounts
- Prepare payment batches for approval
- Process supplier credit notes
- Ensure accurate and timeous supplier payments
- Maintain creditor records and monitor aged creditors
- Assist with expense management and cost control
Compliance & Audit
- Prepare VAT201 and EMP201 returns for review
- Assist with external audits and year-end financial schedules
- Support statutory reporting requirements
- Identify opportunities to strengthen internal controls
Reporting
- Prepare monthly accounting reports
- Produce advertising, discount and commission reports
- Assist with budget variance reporting
- Provide ad hoc financial analysis and forecasting support
Minimum Requirements
- BCom Accounting or relevant tertiary qualification
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a Financial Accountant or similar role
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and IFRS
- Solid knowledge of South African VAT and income tax legislation
- Experience working on Sage 300 or a similar ERP system
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- SARS eFiling experience
