VACANCY – FINANCE CLERK
ROLE PROFILE
AFC Insurance Company, a subsidiary of AFC Holdings seeks to recruit a Finance Clerk reporting to the Accountant. The Finance Clerk will be responsible for assessing insurance risks, determining appropriate coverage and ensuring that policies issued are profitable while meeting customer needs and regulatory requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
Processing and recording all financial transactions accurately and promptly.
Preparing, verifying and processing payments to suppliers, service providers and policyholders.
Receiving and recording premium collections and other income.
Preparing bank deposits and perform daily bank reconciliations.
Reconciling customer, supplier and general ledger accounts.
Processing invoices and ensuring supporting documentation is complete.
Assisting in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
Maintaining accurate financial records and filing systems.
Processing journal entries and updating accounting records.
Monitoring outstanding receivables and following up on overdue accounts.
Assisting in claims payment processing and reconciliation.
Verifying the accuracy of financial data before processing transactions.
Ensuring compliance with company financial policies, accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Assisting during internal and external audits by providing the required documentation.
Preparing statutory payment schedules and supporting documents where required.
Job Skills and Competencies
Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
Understanding of insurance accounting processes.
Bank reconciliation skills.
Accounts payable and accounts receivable management.
Financial record management.
Microsoft Excel and accounting software proficiency.
Financial analysis and reporting.
Data entry accuracy.
Knowledge of taxation and statutory compliance.
Qualifications and Experience
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Banking, Business Studies, or a related field.
A professional accounting qualification (or progress towards one), such as CIS, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent, is an added advantage.
