Requirements:

  • B.Com Degree in Labour or Environmental Law and Agriculture.
  • Have at least 3 years agriculture experience or a post-graduate qualification.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in both Afrikaans and English
  • Be willing to travel across the country and outside of working hours.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of agricultural practices and South African legislation.
  • Display strong attention to detail and the ability to manage and analyse data.
  • Computer literate and proficient in Excel, databases, and data management systems to handle digital records and information.
  • Problem-solving skills to identify challenges and drive the implementation of compliance systems.
  • Exhibit the ability to present to and engage with large groups effectively.
  • Have outstanding interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Adaptability and continuous learning abilities.
  • Be willing to work from the company office in Somerset West and travel as required (This position is office-based and does not offer remote working).
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
  • Implement and support the company’s  Social (Ethical) and Environmental Standards and sustainability programmes.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to suppliers to achieve and maintain social and environmental compliance.
  • Interpret and implement social and environmental legislation, policies, and recognised best practices.
  • Review Social and Environmental Self-Assessment Questionnaires (SAQs) and assess compliance against the company’s requirements.
  • Conduct on-site farm assessments, verifications, and inspections in both social and environmental compliance requirements across South Africa.
  • Present training sessions, workshops, and webinars to suppliers and industry stakeholders on the company’s programmes.
  • Develop and maintain training manuals, guidance documents, policies, newsletters, and technical articles.
  • Assist with the planning, implementation, oversight and follow-up of the company’s  Emerging Producers Programme.
  • Be able to review and identify Best Practices of suppliers, and review them on the company’s platform.
  • Maintain accurate digital records and oversee information management on the company’s shared platforms.
  • Support stakeholder communication, engagement activities, and general office administration.
  • Confidently engage with suppliers on sustainability topics and assist with implementing practices to support continuous improvement.
  • Stay informed of emerging labour and environmental legislation, international sustainability trends, and market requirements.
