About the Client and the Role

Our client operates across various industries, delivering comprehensive construction services including transport and road networks, water and wastewater management, and commercial building infrastructure. The Financial Controller will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity and compliance of all financial activities, ensuring accurate accounting records, and supporting the Finance Manager with financial reporting and audits.

Key Responsibilities for Client Financial Controller Jobs in Lusaka

  • Prepare and post journal entries accurately and timely.
  • Manage trial balances, general ledger reconciliation, and monthly stock audits.
  • Conduct re-evaluation of debtors and reconciliation of creditors and bank statements.
  • Assist with month-end journals and support the Finance Manager in preparing monthly cost reports.
  • Implement cost control measures and compare budget versus actual financial performance.
  • Develop and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) reports.
  • Train accounting staff as needed and monitor accounting discrepancies.
  • Support bi-annual budget preparation and prepare audit files to assist with audit finalization.
  • Analyze financial trends to identify opportunities for organizational improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, best practices, and government regulations.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • A minimum of a degree in Financial Accounting.
  • At least ten (10) years of professional experience in financial control or accounting roles.
  • Membership with ACCA or ZICA is mandatory.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinker with proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to adapt to industry changes and maintain high confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in IT applications relevant to finance and accounting.
