ANALYST – INVESTMENT AND COMMERCIAL RESEARCH
The Analyst – Investment and Commercial Research is responsible for identifying, evaluating and supporting investment and commercial opportunities that drive the growth and diversification of ZACL’s non-aeronautical revenue. The role provides market intelligence, investment analysis, feasibility assessments and commercial research to inform business development initiatives and investment decisions, in line with applicable legislation, policies, strategies and standards, and the overall ZACL strategy.
Key Performance Areas
- Provide direct assistance with the formulation, review and execution of Investment functional strategy, policies and operational plans
- Conduct research and keep abreast of new investments and market research methodologies, systems and best practices to ensure sound organisation evidence-based decision making
- Provide guidance, expertise and advice to other commercial and business development units on commercial and investments trends and best practice
- Forge close relations with other business unit managers to ensure effective delivery of commercial research services
- Develop and maintain business relationships with experts in the investment research field in the industry
- Apply functional guidelines/ tools, processes, and procedures based on leading practices and most recent theory that address the needs and expectations of various stakeholders
- Assist in implementing solutions to ensure continuous improvement continuous service improvement
- Assist in implementing technical solutions to optimize processes, procedures and tools to within the function in line with leading practice
- Identify and implement processes enhancement activities
- Contribute towards the formulation of investment, market research and risk-related policies and ensure the implementation thereof
- Manage and monitor the implementation of commercial research operations and activities
- Conduct research and analyze the industries in which the Airport operates
- Conduct commercial research to inform opportunities to protect and grow portfolios
- Perform commercial research and analytical services, including: trends analysis and provision of statistical information to inform commercial services and business development decision making
- Analyze alternative investment strategies and identify the most appropriate strategies for specific opportunities
- Assist in generating new investment ideas and develop the business case and ensure these are consistent with strategies of relevant areas of the organisation
- Assist in defining investment principles in relation to current portfolio and strategic asset allocation and ensure appropriate geographic and asset class diversification
- Monitor the implementation of the investment strategy according to the agreed control mechanisms, identify risks and propose mitigation measures
- Track and monitor investment performance post implementation against business case objectives to ensure revenue growth for ZACL
- Assist in producing accurate long term forward forecasts using all available information
- Manage and conduct investment market risk analysis services
- Conduct market risk research and make recommendations based on the findings
- Lead the departmental budgeting process
- Assess markets and business information in order to inform reports on market risk to facilitate informed decision making
- Provide information to inform regular (monthly) ratings review committee reports
- Assist in preparing daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual market risk reports, with recommendations based on the findings
- Ensure adherence to the relevant policies, processes and procedures in conducting the work of the Unit
- Participate in operational structures, where required
- Assist with consultation with key stakeholders and ensure the accuracy of information provided
- Assist with periodic and ad-hoc reporting and submission to relevant stakeholders/ committees
- Provide assistance in implementing operational projects
Qualification
- Grade 12 with 5 O’ level credits or better including English and Mathematics.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance or any relevant field.
Experience
- 3 years work experience in a relevant function.
Professional Membership
- Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA), or Economics Association of Zambia (EAZ), or Zambia Institute of Marketing (ZIM), or Securities and Exchange Commission of Zambia (SEC Zambia)
